Any news from Preston?

About time to consult the Ancient Britains! They would know how to move the tub to a more crane able position. After Stonehenge, child's play.

It was last weekend, when Vyv took the picture in post #14. Who knows what might have happened since?

I fear if it was going to be launched by the present owner it would have happened by now . Especially since the storeage bill will be racking up from next month. Look out for a bargain coming your way any time soon on E-Bay .

Talking of serious romantic notion driven miscalculations, even if the thing had been lauched the maintenance inc occasional haul out charges would make the average millionaire shudder...

£1689 for a minimum of 8 metres in that god forsaken hole ?

That's over 4 times as much as I pay for a good sheltered mooring in the rather lovely Chichester Harbour 5 minutes row from 2 nice old pubs, a wildlife sanctuary, long coast path & tons of history, hoist in & out, winter storage, secure tender pen, membership and a good clubhouse with cheap beer and nice people...

No wonder there's the ' Birminghan Navy ' of people who drive South !

Don't knock them that bad lets look at the Price for a marina near your mooring? My reckoning is 2593.76 pounds for 8 meters...

You can be pretty certain that there will be tidal moorings near by in Fleetwood a dam site cheaper.

Fish and chips is cheaper, beer is cheaper the people are friendlier, the lake district is an hour up the road to do some proper walking.

As for the Birmingham Navy it does amaze me how far people travel to sail on the south coast, if I did not have other commitments it would not be my first choice...

onesea,

Genuine question - where are the decent sheltered moorings with soft mud rather than granite - like sand near to you
?

I drive an hour and a quarter to get to my boat and knowing the South and South West coasts well I have never found anything to match them; I agree about the harbours being way overpriced for visitors ( including me ), I suspect they are driving away the Golden Goose - I like many others will be going straight past Salcombe !
