We're looking at options for next year and in many ways Torquay would be very convenient. I'm aware of weekend rowdiness etc but wondered whether it was feasible at all and if anyone there could offer any pro's or con's?

Many thanks

Not in Torquay but nearby in Dartmouth.
The marina in Torquay always looks a little exposed during the winter months, I can imagine that in some blows it could get a little lively.
We have spent the last two winters in dartmouth and can highly recommend it. A busy little community which has everything you could need all closely packed together. A choice of supermarkets, shops, chandleries and even a small weekly market. Friendly well stocked library with fast free internet. Doctors, dentists and even a small cottage hospital. An arts centre that shows movies, has concerts, talks etc. Festivals of food, comedy, christmas and music.
Theres a choice of marinas depending on what you want- and your wallet!
Sheltered position in all weathers. Bus connections to Plymouth, Torquat etc where you can catch a train.
Always something happening if you want to take part or miles of glorious walking if thats what floats your boat.......
