Following on from the RYA online interview, would there be any interest for a similar session with the Cruising Association, if we can persuade Kim to agree to it and set it up. I am an ex RYA member who joined the CA and would like to ask some of the same questions to see what response is given.

Anybody interested?

Re: Yes, but.....

If you ask nicely I might be able to put in a word. The Chief Exec may be interested, if not he may get one of the senior staff to get involved. Depends on what questions you would like to ask.

Let me know roughly what questions are likely and I can let him know.

Re: Yes, but.....

Like, "Do you agree you do a fantastic job?"

That sort of thing? /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

I'm sure we can all agree to that

Re: Yes, but.....

The reason that I ask is that each of the directors deals with different aspects of the agency eg SAR and Survey and Inspection. It would be best if the person you want to target was invited. If you think we do such a wonderful job at SAR then the best bet is inspection and Survey who also deal with much of the legislation. I know how much you all like to groan about that.

Re: Any interest in a CA interview ala the RYA ses

The CA is a private yacht club and it would not be up to non-members or 'the public' to float open questions.
For the MCA and RNLI it would be a different matter. Here is question number one for both! 'How are the announced statistics of the rescue industry arrived at?'

That\'s the fellow we want!

I should behave myself here, as in my professional capacity I have had a go at the MCA before now, on the quite un-related question of port state control inspection of coasters at small ports. The MCA has since improved its performance here.

But yes, I think we would all all like to correspond with the lady or gentleman responsible for regulation of pleasure craft, approval of certification such as the Yachtmaster qualification, and so on.
