After 20 odd years of motorboat cruising we have sold the boat and are now looking for a suitable boat to use for day cruising.
We live on the River Dart and will use it mainly on the river and the occasional trip out to Start Bay and Salcombe.
SWMBO has said that it must have a loo ( preferably marine not chemical ) and a gas ring to boil a kettle. We like the walkround boats as the dog is usually onboard and sometimes the grandchildren, accommodation is not important as we will never stay overnight on it.
So far we have drawn up the following shortlist which will give some idea on what we are thinking.

Bénéteau Flyer 750
White Shark 236 – 237
Jeanneau Cap Camarat 755WA

I would like to keep to a budget of £50k but if needs must!

Have I missed any contenders?

Cheers

AJT,
Thanks for that
Silverboy,
I did look at those but I should have said that the boat will only be used on sunny days and so I was trying to avoid wheelhouse type boats.

Any other ideas?

Aquador 23 WA?

I do like those, but cannot find one for sale, new ( £70k ) would probably be more than I wish to spend. But I will put it on the list!

I USED to sell these.... but I now have no involvement...

They are part of Genmar now, but used to be OMC - and the quality is very much better than Bayliner but no pricier...

hope that helps - now sold at Medway Bridge

Happy memories. Our first boat was a 1851 Seaswirl walkaround, bought from a dealer in Gosport who subsequently went bust. Great boat, fantastic hull - we used to fly over the top of the Solent chop at 45Knts ! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Boston Whalers
Ryds 23
Karnics

Think that you definitely need some sort of weather protection for the helm in our climate. But you will then probably find that the rest of the crew will still get wet - if there's more than 2 of them anyway.

PS - have you considered a boat share? Have sent a PM.
PPS - Proline make another WA sports fisher similar to Seaswirl.

Of course there are many brands for WAs over here in the US. Almost all will be outboard power, not inboard diesel. If you're curious about these then here is a thread on a US site that thrashes through 'em -

Thanks guys, I will check the suggestions out, I agree with you Whisper about protection even if it is just from the wind. It seems to be very difficult to find a boat of this size that offers the ability to sit out in the sunshine and also have some sort of protection. The closest I have seen was a Boston Whaler with a hardtop and an expensive price tag.

Definitely would advisethat the Aquador is a great boat as it is the same Hull as mine which tracks straight on a river! Definitely on the expensive side though. I looked at the 755 walkaround but prefered the 625WA as it had all I needed with less mooring charges but has an outboard.

Another brand to consideer is Uttern who do a 6.4m see

Uttern 64

I have looked at these but they area bit small for what I am looking for and do not have any sort of galley facility. If they had a model around 23-25 foot it would probably fit the bill.

Have you looked at the Windy Oceancraft 760 / 761, not the cheapest but far and away the prettiest. Meets all of your criteria except the gas hob which could be easily added. If you want a small cabin there is also an 845 but probably going over budget, and maybe over trailer weight as well.

Other alternative is a RIB with a big centre console, you lose some space but gain some stability at rest?

That does look interesting, not worried about trailer weight cos we won't have one!
Bénéteau Flyer 750
White Shark 236 – 237
Jeanneau Cap Camarat 755WA
Aquador 23WA
Windy 760/761

You might also want to look at the Jeanneau Leader 705 which has a good walk around deck.. and all the mod cons in a sporty package for under £50k
