I'm still digging around in the darkest corners of Venezia and after a year still finding stiff. Yesterday I found this at the back of one of the lockers:

Also, when I was cleaning under the cooker, and I have done that a number of times in the past year I found this:

The first one looks like the gate off one of those easy mooring things, passes the rope through the eye of a buoy thing.

I bet if you blow through the bottom one, it will whistle loudly. We have such devices for toothless shepherds.

Bingo - my kettle has stopped whistling and I didn't connect the two.
