I've bought one and will skip a lift out this spring. Don't tell me that a should use a broom etc.

They provide two sponges - a soft for eroding A/F and a hard for hard A/F. This is odd because you probably need one or the other.

So does anyone want to swap my hard sponge for a soft one? Postage must be cheaper than £19 for a new one.

3 of us at at Levington clubbed together and bought one early last year. The other 2 guys have Coppercoat and use the hard sponge.I have eroding antifouling and use the soft sponge. We are all pleased with the results.Do be careful when near the stern as it is possible to get it caught between the prop shaft and the hull.

I have gone two years between lift outs and use the harder brush ( gently) on ablative antifouling ( three coats) and a hand bristle brush on the hard coated boot top.
Anodes can catch the foam pad and the whole end can be pushed beyond the bottom of a long keel, I find it better to half flood the bouyancy chamber and ' know' when to stop pushing( mark the telescopic handle) .. I remain extremely impressed with the product.
Save money on the storage bag IMO as it s bulky and the zip corroded quickly on my (second user) one..
Yesterday I had to bash upwind and ride a tide, a quick Brizo the day before and full speed restored after three months between scrubs..
I would retain BOTH foam ends if I were you, u til you really know... IMO

I read a test in a magazine recently and thought I would offer my cheaper solution.
I made one from an arm of an old windsurf boom. That gives the curve that you need to get under the hull. They are normally filled with foam so that gives the positive buoyancy.
Ebay would be a good place to get an old boom.
I used an old window cleaner type mop that has a short handle and that fits in the boom. 2 screws secure it.
Get some large green pot scourers from any janitorial supplier and stitch them on with any fine cord or fishing line.
I find this works well. Perhaps not quite as well as a Brizo but mine cost about a £1 not £250.
I use it from my tender on a 30ft boat and it really keeps the growth down

That sounds excellent.
I bought my Brizzo second hand as the price seemed a tad silly. The three part adjustable stowable tubing seems the neatest 'on board' bit.
Have just hauled out after 25 months immersed , S coast UK.
And I had one ( ONE!) barnacle on the propellor.
I rather think the thing has paid for itself 3 times over for 'saving' one annual haulout and antifoul.
I am convinced, despite the ludicrous price, nor would I incorporate any of the several ideas I had initially to make 'er even better...

Cheeky people are always asking to borrow it, with a dismissive 'of course it is overpriced'..Yotties, eh?

May I suggest you 'improve' the excellent diy one with variable additional buoyancy and perhaps stick on pads onto a velcro-like backing pads if you are going to use it a lot?

I've decided to go for one as it'll pay for itself quickly if it's half as good as the write-ups. The best price I can find is £199 delivered. Anyone found a better price?

Phone Hullmate direct and ask for Tammy . Their phone number is on their website. You may be pleasantly surprise at the price .!! I've bought one . well pleased .
