Hello,
I have a Raymarine C70 chart plotter that uses the Navionics chart card. I was wondering if there are any hand-held gps units that could use the same card (I would like to use it as a back-up). Any ideas? Thanks

PS: Actually I am aware that some units use Navionics charts (e.g RC400). But is it the same type of card that fits into my C70 plotter?

RC400 and navionics platinum charts

Whilst the RC400 manual says you cant use the platinum chart in it .... you can. I have been using a spare platinum chart in mine for two years as a back up to my E series plotter. You lose some of the platinum charts functionality such as 3D views, ariel photos of marinas etc due to the RC400 lower spec than the raymarine E series for which the chart was designed. But the RC400 will utilize all the conventional plotter and nav features of the platinum chart.

The RC400 is no longer available AFAIK. They were being offerd "end of line" by Cactus/MES about a year ago, but I haven't noticed any ads for a while. Pity, I bought one at the time and find it a versatile, well made gadget. HH or even fixed, with a reasonably sized screen.

I use a handheld in the Med, chose navionics as a prefered chart, based on advice received, I do not have a chartplotter so not use a card.
