Any experts on Simrad FU80?

I am no longer able to alter course with the FU80 steering stick out on deck. All 4 buttons work as normal, but the steering pin does nothing. No sound, no course change. I have tried resetting it localy a couple of times, and I have reset the autopilot(AC70) system on the main controller screen. I have a theory that it is hung up on some alarm, as it has a ! in the display.



This is from the alarm list on the main screen. Nothing there.

Regarding the quoted - is this to say that you have another FU80 in the wheelhouse? Or that the autopilot accepts changes of direction some other way? (Do you have a Simard or B&G chartplotter?)

If the cause of the alert remains after the alert dialog has been closed, the alert icon shown on the left will appear in the upper left corner of the screen. The alert icon will remain visible on the screen until the alert has been rectified.

For alert text, probable faults and corrective actions, refer to your autopilot Operator manual.

In the wheelhouse I have a AP70. Autopilot works perfect with that one.

Yeah, I’ve read that text. But nothing to check for in the «autopilot manual» if you do not have any errors in the alarm list. Only the FU80 is displaying error. Doesnt seem to be a way to find out what it is. Have just picked a new unit. Hopefully that will get me back on the big blue.

So this is the inside of it. Where also the error lies: The little red wire has come loose. Not exactly a quality product. Only the price is
