Any chance of a British summer season WITHOUT drunken drownings?

Far be it from me to wag a finger at crews drinking, at least once they're moored or anchored securely...

...or even en route, assuming the skipper will stay reasonably alert and orientated, and is in a position to insist his crew take due care...

...but how best can visitors be made to keep in mind the immediate peril surrounding dark marina pontoons and transfers by tender?

The ease of mind which follows the third or fourth glass, seems to shift all natural caution even in responsible folk.

Nice if there were no horrendous marina/harbour headlines this year.

Its not funny
A couple more drunks falling off harbour walls & every harbour in the country will have 6ft high fencing round the edge
They will probably want to drain the marinas & plant weeds so drunks can then roll about & pee everywhere in safety
The fuss when a drunk drowned in the lake at Maldon had to be seen to be believed--
did they finally fill the lake in after 60 years of being there?

Most of (us) drunks won't drown. It's being stupid that drowns you, and you don't have to be drunk to be stupid; although it does help. We all know what keeps us safe enough when we're sober, the more so when we're not. It"s not much different to being very tired, and we all have to deal with that on occasion.

The lake at Maldon is still there but sadly the only things swimming in it are ducks and geese.

I do not feel i would be proud of myself being described as a drunk. In fact i would suggest being drunk is stupid
