Any advice from folk who have crossed from IoM to Northern Ireland?

Yet another vote for Ardglass although it was looking a bit tired when we were last there in 2014. From Ardglass Belfast is a tide away and Bangor, Carrickfergus and the City are all well worth a visit. Try not to miss the city marina. It's great fun motoring up the river passing so many famous landmarks and the relatively new pontoons for small craft lie right alongside the Titanic museum. There's something similar to a Pay & Display machine and this gives you the gate code and access to very nice and clean shower facilities in an adjacent building. Of course, Guinness on tap is never far away, either.

Glenarm has some good pubs but no food other than a mediocre fish and chip van on the beach or a light lunch in the castle. The castle has lovely gardens and there are often events on such as Highland games, concerts, opera or just garden displays. It is a lovely marina just to chill out in. You can find a key hidden near the door for visitors or if you are there when Billy is around he will sort things for you. If you are going further north to Scotland in an 18foot boat I would advise going via Rathlin rather than Sanda. There are races round Rathlin but leaving at the right time gets you to Islay with minimal fuss whereas going from Sanda to Gigha you tend to get pretty rough conditions outside the Mull. Of course you can just stay inside the Clyde which is ideal for that size of boat but can be busy.

The noise of the limestone quarry "warning beeper" drove me nuts last year. Starts around 07:00 and goes all day til 22:00 (?)
Beep beep beep beep beep. I can still hear it in my head !!

+1 for Ardglass, Bangor and Ballycastle. Then hop across to Port Ellen (Islay) from there the world is your oyster. But do get the tide right if trying to go through the Sound of Islay. Spectacular (10kts?)
Islay to Iona? - mind the Torran Rocks..............
