I was at Durlston Country Park in Swanage this morning, after stopping in Wareham to get the last of the gear off the boat now it's ashore for the winter. Went for a walk along the cliff path towards Anvil Pt. Lighthouse, and saw this guy heading east......

Re: And another....

great pixs thanks... looks like they were in the overfalls.... if so which way is the wind blowing today? shipping says SW (but his sail is on the wrong side for that if he is heading east). Maybe a fairview sailing boat.

Re: And another....

Eeek! I should have known I'd be caught out by saying he was heading east. I should have said "up channel" /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

P'raps NNE would be closer to the mark, as it looked like he'd been well offshore to pass St Albans, and was heading up to Peveril Ledge........ although when the pics were taken, he still could have run towards the Solent.

Re: And another....

I have been there and done that!!! Quite alarming, even though we were well away from the shore. Also when we did that it was blowing 34kn, gusting 38kn and very overcast. I would love to say I was really enjoying it but actually I was really sh_tting myself... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Quite good experience though, gives you confidence in the yacht.

Re: And another....

Just back from Lizard (Bass Point) and the seas look a good bit bigger there (from the safety of the cliff top). Guess there's a lot of weather out there just at the moment.

Have abandoned all hope of getting boat to Helford tomorrow for lift out!

31kts forecast with rain from about 9.00am onwards. Ah well, we'll just have to wait for the next Sprint Tide.
