A question that has as many answers as which is the best anchor.
I have a 23ft bilge keel yacht on a 3/4 tide mooring in Itchenor Reach. I'm interested in what is considered most effective anti-fouling for the area?

Lift and Scrape !!

Honest - I was for many years moored in Fareham Creek ... then Chichester Hbr ... then Langstone Hbr .. full drying mud ... half mud ... all sorts ... and I never found any A/F to be 'effective' ... they just seemed to reduce it .. I tried Jotun .. Micron .. various bands - even 'illegal' from the fishing boats - all same.
In the latter years when I was pontoon based at HYCo ... I actually stopped using AF and left boat as is ... HYCo used to lift - pressure wash and that was it. at end of season.
Boat was a Sunrider 25 ... a bilge keel Motor Sailer ... with 43HP Perkins ... so a dirty bottom made very little difference to her anyway ..

My observation was that the more the boat grounded out - especially into mud - the less I had to clean up ! One mooring I had in Langstone - she dried out completely onto hard shingle bed ... the fouling there was more - as the boat never sank into mud to abrade the fouling off.

My suggestion ? Find a car Boot or Boat Jumble sale ... find seller selling of Out of date AF cheap ... it will do as good as anything else and be cheaper !!
