I have an elderly 3GMD Yanmar, that has no anti-syphon device in the cooling in- or outlet (it's raw cooling). As I fear that water may enter the cylinders in extreme circumstances (heeling), where does one put such a device? Between the waterpump and the injection into the exhaust? Does it require a seperate hose or can I just split the existing one?
Thanks for any comment.

Anti -syphon devices needs to go between the water pump outlet and the inlet to the engine block. That way water pressure helps to keep it shut when running and will easily open when the engone is shut down. The higher you get the anti-syphon valve the better.
Don't know you're exact lay out but normally you would need to get a longer hose to give you the extra height.

Mine is between the outlet of the engine and the exhaust injection.

Vetus do a couple of different types, and Halyard do them. I am sure there are many others.

They all have their own requirements about how far above the waterline etc. so this may determine which you purchase.

Yes you will need new hoses - the old one will be way too short.
