Antifouling

Hi All,

Ive just finished scrapping all the barnacles and **** off the hull and I am now ready to paint. As i dont know which Antifouling in on there already I am going to purchase a primer to paint on first.

Ive been told that Primocon is the best, Is that right?

I dont know if Primicon is the best, But international is usualy good stuff. I have had to paint antifouling on top of unknown paint, and I have always just tried a small trial patch and waited a day. I have never had a bad reaction and carried on without any problems.

Primocon is International's recommended barrier coat to apply over an unknown antifoul

In reality if you are applying an ordinary AF, as opposed to something super-duper, over another ordinary antifouling you are not likely to have a problem.

A test patch might be a good idea but an incompatibility may not show up immediately.

The person I used to crew for always used Blakes Tiger except once when he was offered Internationals top of the range 2 part stuff at a price he could not resist. He did not realise it was not compatible with the underlying Tiger. Ever since, despite many subsequent coats of Tiger, the bottom has had a "crazy paving" appearance.
