I've been reading through old threads related to the above and I think I've got the idea:
1. Antifoul not really needed, but a coat around the waterline can be advantageous.
2. If my boat has outdrives, need to use specialist antifoul on them
3. Regular lift and pressure wash will keep hull clean

Have I missed anything?

Also, what type of anodes should I use?

1. Yes, mainly cosmetic.
2, Probably...... stupid place to put a gearbox.
3. Yes, but wash off immediately or it will set like stone.

It is usual to have antifoul on the hull . But on fresh water it seems to last a few years - at least it does where I keep my boat.
If you wish to antifoul the leg there is paint made for that - do not use the antifoul for the hull on the leg - and do not paint the hull antifoul all the way up to the transom shield ,leave a gap of about an inch.

Where you keep the boat will influence what antifoul brand to use. Some work better than others in different areas.

Where we are on the Fossdyke the water is shallow, warm and clear so you get lot of growth. It washes off easily enough mind as its usually only slime.

The drives have a different antifoul paint as they cant be painted with the copper based stuff you put on the hull.

We usually lift every year in January/February. We get the hull washed as soon as she is lifted and then chocked ashore. We paint the hull and drive once a year and service the drive once a year at the same time but we do use our boat extensively. The engine is fully serviced each March with further oil and filter changes in June/July and October.
