Can it be done? We have rescheduled to go back in the water on Thursday but that would require us to finish the antifouling tomorrow. The forecast for the Hamble tomorrow is rain, rain, rain, rain and more rain. Don't really want to reschedule again though

I don't mind getting wet but will it knacker the antifoul?

Yes technically it can, you grab a tin of paint and a brush and off you go!

Antifoul will not stick to the base coat or to prior coats if the substrate is wet!

If the air is too humid it will effect the adhesion and it will either peel off reasonably quickly or sometime soon after application or launch.

The finish will be effected and rain/splash marked the thickness could be patchy and effect the over all performance.

So no, I wouldnt antifoul in the rain.

Its all about dew point and not wanting to get anywhere close, usually a safety margin of 4' in case it changes as you paint.

I have patched underwater before and it sticks and sets .

I wouldnt paint in the rain or within 4 degrees of dew point and I think you will regret rushing it even though it will most likely be fine .

If the rain is falling or running down onto the work . No you cannot.

If you can rig a tarpaulin to keep the rain off then its OK but it's recommended that the surface should be at least 1°C above the dewpoint.

what you need is one of these:
