Re: copper

Its powder, I worked out that we would need 3.5kg to cover our boat with the same concentration. £3.5kg is over £400.
Of course you could buy loads of tin powder and mix it up but I gather this is a bit naughty!

Hi

Used XM HS3000 for the last couple of seasons on my Achilles which is either moored in Groomsport or Bangor Marina. Hauled out last week
and bottom was fairly clean with a fine coating of slime but i had a few patches of weed in the waterline but this was due to me scrubbing the waterline
to hard when the boat was in the water. Will use it again next season.

Andrew

Re: dulux

I wonder if you cd try some cheaper stuff pls? Like cresote v dulux (interior) v dulux (one-coat gloss) and dulux exterior. And B&Q as well, for cheap skinflints.

Re: dulux

I was told that adding tin to paint is illegal (TBT is).
I am trying to figure out whether you are being serious about trying other paints or are you sitting there laughing at me/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif.

Re: dulux

no not laughing!

modern paints aren't antifoul at all, it seems - they don't repel very much, just protect the hull when the time comes to scrap off everything. So it may as well be any old gunk, really?

I may well try the dulux BUT i think i wd still want it to be black. despite the naughtiness, and appa silliness - any idea where i can get ground up tin?

Re: dulux

Here, but 63 micron is a bit too small really. It should really come under tin dust.http://www.goodfellow.com/csp/active/gfPDetail.csp?result=2&UpdateParam=2~~

Re: copper

3.5kg seems a lot unless yer got a v. big boat. at half that concentration, cost would be £200 or even £100 at a quarter or £50 at ...... wonder if it would still work at lower concentrations ??

Re: copper

TBT stands for tributyl tin, which aint the same as tin powder. TBT is still legal for commercial vessels, who raised a stink when they tried to ban it. Only goes to show how good it was. I think I might be going commercial, instead of leasure
