Hi all.
I've posted before about my Enfield Z drive and the fact it's suffered a bit due to galvanic corrosion. My boat is out of the water for some repair and maintenance which includes a new coat of anti foul and repair to said sad looking z drive. It's all going very well...........until now.
I happen to know that both the fibre glass hull and the drive are coated with International 'Uno' anti foul. I've just been reading the service manual for the drive and it states very emphatically to NEVER use paints on the hull or drive unit which contain copper. According to the 'Uno' MSDS it contains copper oxide.
Should I remove all the existing anti foul? Is copper oxide the same as copper as far as galvanic action is concerned? Am I reading too much into all of this?
I was just about to order a batch of International 'Uno' for the job.
Many thanks in anticipation
Barry
