The yard I'm in abroad has International Uni Pro 250 only. It says on the international site its professional use only? In terms of effectiveness what difference is there? I've been use to Cruiser Uno in the past.

Thanks.

I used Uni-Pro for almost 8 years. Not cheap but did the business - both West of Scotland and Norway. My only real criticism is that it is quite a soft (self eroding) surface- you can't do much brushing of the waterline without it coming off in clouds.
If that sounds bad, it's not meant to - I rarely had anything but a little soft slime at the end of the season, very little else.

I find it extremely hard to believe that the "professional use only" is not a marketing device aimed at getting "luxury" yacht owners to pay more for basics. Jotun stipulate "professional use' for their Seaforce range of antifouling yet the only only evidence they require to supply it is a coding certificate for the vessel. How does that evidence competence in applying antifoul? Not at all! But it does allow them to levy a premium on non-coded owners for the inferior Mare Nostrum product.

We have been using Jotun's SeaQuantum Ultra S. it too is professional use only (and when I talked to Jotun is Europe they got quite irate when I suggested I was using it for leisure use (until they learnt I was talking of use in Oz not Eu).

I wonder if paints are registered for use in specific markets, leisure as opposed to commercial, and there is a cost for both registrations (and less for only one market). it may be the financial implication (fines) of use of a product not registered for leisure use that is the issue nothing to do with H&S nor the active ingredients etc etc.

I don't know - just a guess
