Antifoul Overcoat Times

I am about to go and apply International Micron 2 antifoul but had hoped to get 2 coats on today but can return another day if required. The instructions say touch dry in 45 minutes but over coat time is 10 hrs.

How important is this and what would happen if I over coasted after say 3 hours?

I have done this in the past and never had a problem. Don't know where you are but the weather today looks good for drying.

Yup - on my boats it's usually been dry enough at the end I started at, to go back and repeat again as soon as I've finished the first coat at the other end...

Everyone does this - except my second coat is only just round the waterline and keel-rudder leading edges.

And I've put on a touch-up where hull pads have been 5 mins before launching in the rain - ie onto a wet hull, and it still seemed to stick and work.....

I have found that if you too quickly apply the second coat the adhesion between the first coat and wet roller is better than the adhesion to the substrate and flakes of soft newly applied antifould come off.

If it's a hot day I've always over coated when the first coat is dry. Since we were sailing long distances and using ablative paint I would do four coats a day with no problem. This was in 28 degrees C or more. If it's not very warm stick to the 10 hours.
