AntiFoul - how long will it last?

Advise needed please.

My Yamarin 68DC never had anti foul until this year as i wanted to keep her berthed at Chichester marina. So, the boat was left in the water until a nice scum line appeared (about 8 weeks) and then removed and two coats of anti foul applied early August.

I've pulled the boat out now and given her a good jet wash. The boat will be dry stored until March next year.

Will i need to apply a fresh boat or will this seasons be ok given it was only applied in August?

Also, there's quite a few barnacles on the trim tabs as they weren't anti-fouled. Any tips on removing these - they are like concrete!

If the boat is out of the water till March, you will need to pop a coat of a/f on before she goes back in. The current a/f will dry out and become ineffective.

The barnacles are a bit easier straight after lifting...
Some sanding mesh roll is quite good for some general work, but a power chisel will do it in seconds
Check with your A/F docs, but usually you need to go back in within XX (often a few months) of applying. Trilux ( as an example) goes REALLY sticky when it is cold, so keep the can in the house to keep it warm or you'll find in the cold it is like trying to apply peanut butter. When applying, keep the can in the sunshine (or the car) and not round the shady side of the boat...when warm, it is like emulsion.

For the barnacles, I have used Starbrite Boat Bottom Cleaner to good effect, together with a wall scraper.

On that basis, i guess prior to putting her back in the water, i'll get the marina to chock up the boat in order for a fresh coat of AF. Aside of thoroughly cleaning / jet washing the underside off, what level of prep will be needed?

Just a jet wash. I think this will bring most of the remaining crustations off, as they will be long dead. A scraper will bring remaining off. You might want to polish your props. I haven't yet found a good a/f for props, but others on here may have some recommendations.

Brick cleaner from you local builders merchant will make getting the barnacles off easy and is cheap. Brush it on wait until it stops fizzing (5mins) hose off and a light scrape should do it.

What does everyone do with trim tabs and the rams? I prefer them not covered in AF but they soon get fouled with tons of weed / barnacles. Do they do a Clear AF?

I've used TK Line Antifouling Spray Clear in the past, with varying degrees of success.

I too have used the TK on the stern gear, and unfortunately concluded that it is snake oil.

For the drives and trims I have used JOTUN Aqualine VK Spray (Norwegian product that gets the best rating in various competitions). Google and be convinced
Initially you clean the drive/ trim tabs and then spray with JOTUN Vinyl primer followed by the JOTUN Aqualine VK Spray (3 coats). You get in black and grey I think. I have used it for 4 years and hardly any barnacles on the drive after the season. I can highly recommend this product.
