Have just agreed the purchase of a rib to replace our elderly dory as a tender. The rib will be kept afloat and will, therefore, need antifouling. As a tender it will spend most of its life in its berth and will be subject to a 6 knot speed limit within the Dart. I hope that we will use it for the occasional 'jolly' outside when it should travel considerably faster that 6 knots.

So, the question - hard racing or self eroding.

Thanks for any replies.

I'd plump for self eroding unless you plan to have lots of 'jollies'. We put cruising performer on our dory (also afloat in Dart, drying each tide) and it works a treat. A few coats should withstand the odd jolly, but you can always reassess the situation after year one.
