Antifoul - Bucking the trend

as a former cowman....

the stuff does wonders for cows tits, mens hands and now... boat bottoms

tell us more

how mcuh do you apply?

how much does it cost?

where did you learn of the idea

please post some pictures

We have a 19ft boat and are sailing in the north of the Netherlands. We don't like the standard anti-fouling because of the price, the amount of work and the environmental aspects.
In the Netherlands udder salve/cream cost about 10 euro for a 0,75 kg jar and I use less than one jar per year. For applying it we use a paintbrush (or bare hands) and a paint roller.

After the sailing season we clean the boat with a pressure washer (10 minutes of work) and at the start of the season it's about 1 hour of work to apply new udder salve.

I don’t have any pictures but udder salve is practically transparent so you don’t see much of it.

But there are two disadvantages, hoisting the boat has to be done with more care because the hull is slippery and you have to be carefully when mooring on a meadow because you may attract a lot of cattle.

going to start a new thread

We launch on Wednesday and we'll udder cream the Kipper just before she goes in. Going to leave two control areas free of cream to see the relative affect.

Always understood udder cream (the original formula) contained a toxic disinfectant, hydroxyqinoline. Well, no wonder it's effective against growth... :)
Vaseline sure is a surface difficult to attach to, while itself not washing off. At least works for props.

Would be interesting to watch how one washes this vaseline off the hull, in case painting is desired later. Personally I've no idea what chemical could take it off...
