Antifoul and sonar transducers

I've been told by Navico that they don't recommend Coppercoat for our fancy new fixed external sonar transducers (we have two - a ForwardScan and a Downscan) whereas coppercoat say that this has been done many times on sonar transducers and is not an issue. Anyone any views?
Airmar recommends some new stuff FoulFree which is £40 a small pot and supposedly might last two years but internet reports indicate this could only be a few weeks. The whole point of getting coppercoat was to have extended periods between lifting the boat....

I would follow Navico's advice, no arguments if you have a problem.

I had a quiet chuckle when I saw an anode painted over with antifoul last week.

I don't have Coppercoat, but if it were me I'd use a dab of Trilux left over from what I use on the Saildrive leg.

I use this stuff on mine, expensive but a tub lasted me 4 years with two transducers. Marlin Eco Transducer Antifouling | Force 4 Chandlery

I use coppercoat on hull and all internal sonar transducers work fine.. Its copper spread vanishingly thin not steel and no more likely to obstruct sound waves than grp.

So I am unclear why an external transducer without the obstruction of grp would be prevented from working by coppercoat, or why a water based epoxy such as copper coat would damage the transducer.

Navico might be correct but the cynic suspects bottom covering. Still its hard to remove once applied so go for the Marlin stuff
