Came out of the water today after 10 months - mainly Plymouth.

Antifouling - Shogun - dark blue Some brown slime but much of the hull clean.

Propellor: (23 inch 3 Blade) Hot Lanaolin applied before launch. A little fine weed (very short) and a few barnacles near the centre. I would judge it a success as there was no noticable loss of thrust.

This is the second year of applying Lanolin - so it has been consistantly good.

We came out on Wednesday, Micron Optima antifouling, very clean almost no slime even, except on the cradle pad patches which were done with Micron CSC Extra. The boat is marina based in Poole. We just bright polish our prop and we had just a few barnacles near the blade roots, otherwise it took me just 40 minutes with a Scotchbrite pad to clean it up to shiny again. The propshaft which is exposed I put Trilux A/F on and this was covered in weed & barnacles, no better than last year when I left it unpainted!

Tried ZEBRITE on my prop this year...the black paste that comes in a red and yellow tube and is intended for blackening old grates and stoves. Applied about 10 coates polishing after each coat and worked fine...no fouling after 6 months in water west coast of Scotland.

I agree, I have had similar results from using Lanolin, I'll use it again this year - moored in River Deben, Esat Coast.

Pop into Boots and ask for Anhydrous Lanolin. Observe bewildered expression and try another chemist. Repeat until someone opens a dusty draw and finds a long forgotton tub. In short, not many chemists seem to stock it, you might need to persevere.
