Your opinion about trying Copperboot anti-fowling of a 25feat sailing-boat good or bad idea ?

Copperbot anti-foUling is a vexed question. Plenty of coverage on the fora here. Try using the search facility. It should come up with at least a half-dozen threads.

I don't like dog s**t on the pavements either.
Why am I not surpised you were the first one to pick this up.
I use Blakes Cruiser - it seems to be good and I suspect would be good for 2 years.

I'm not sure what happened. Since using Blakes Tigers 4 years ago and grounding the SSB I seem to be slime, barnacle and weed free. I'm loathe to do an anlytical research on this as I'm quite happy to stay status quo.

You will find a manageable number of posts to read regarding this subject.

Have used international cruiser premium and now use blakes - both work fine and are similar in price.
Are you racing or day sailing/cruising?

Both Copperbot 2000 and Coppercoat are excellent products IF they are applied correctly and in the right environment. For a successful application the hull must be completely free from any previous antifoulings and well rubbed down to allow the paint to key. You also need to apply it in a controlled environment, or, if you are very lucky, on a perfectly warm (above 15 deg C) and dry day with low humidity. It's not cheap stuff, so don't waste it trying to do it yourself - have a yard spray it on in a paint shed.
I don't have any affiliation with either company, but I have tried both products on many occasions.
Both companies are always very forthcoming with useful advice and will send you info on request.

I always like looking at Kens bits. That's why I wasn't surprised - he is always so precise and I might say interesting.
Just goes to show though - you need to be so careful how you word things! I won't have a word said against orthopaedics.

When we bought our boat a year ago, she had had Copperbot applied to the hull a few (unspecified, but approx 3-4) years earlier. She had osmosis when we bought her. Another boat had been epoxied on a non-osmotic hull (but who can REALLY tell?) as a preventative, and subsequently developed osmosis. Obviously, osmosis is frequently likely to develop on any GRP hull anyway. Draw your own conclusions.
