What should I be paying for a 52ft boat to be lifted and cleaned then anti fouled, going forward I will probably do this sort of thing myself but I need to get this done at the same time as the survey.
I tend to pay approx €2.5k for lift, antifoul and anodes at my marina, and that's with the guardianage company who look after the boat throughout the year. Boat is approx 56'What should I be paying for a 52ft boat to be lifted and cleaned then anti fouled, going forward I will probably do this sort of thing myself but I need to get this done at the same time as the survey.
The drives had a big service this year as did the engines, I know it’s not ideal anti fouling now but hopefully it will get me through to next season, and stops having to lift the boat twice.Hows that gonna work ..... while you commission a survey , doing your own elective works at the same time on a boat you don’t own ?
Might you be weakening your negotiating position in the sense the seller knows it’s more difficult for you to walk away ?
Secondly the stern gear will be fouled up by the start of the season May time .
I would keep your powder dry at this stage and if the sale concludes plan it’s annual as near to start of your season as possible and try to eyeball the underneath yourself.
Expect ram oil sea water contamination @ the survey and ( depending on history ) the arnie bellows needing replacing .
All makes perfect sense with the info .The drives had a big service this year as did the engines, I know it’s not ideal anti fouling now but hopefully it will get me through to next season, and stops having to lift the boat twice.
In our contract if the boat passes the survey, I pay for the anti fouling, if it fails the owner pays.
