I am replacing the rubber fairing on my sail drive. The old one was antifouled by the previous owner and I kept this up with a new (thin) coat each year and had no problems with weed/barnies etc. The fairing was damaged when I removed the sail drive for servicing.
I will use Blakes Tiger Extra.
Has anyone successfully primed rubber for anti fouling ? If so with what please
many thanks
Martin

I just roughed the surface of my saildrive gaiter with some sandpaper then used Trilux. It's stayed on for maybe 12 years or more. There are always a few minor areas (where it's creased next to the saildrive) which lose the paint but every year it gets another coat when I do the saildrive.

I have always avoided antifouling the rubber fairing.

Reason being that the antifoulings usually contain copper and I'd like to keep any copper content as far as possible from the saildrive leg.

This is the reason for using the non-copper sprayed on antifoulings on the leg itself.

Trilux is OK for aluminium including saildrive legs. I was advised by a Volvo engineer to extend the Trilux over the gaiter and slightly onto the hull.

I'm never sure what the correct term for the 'gaiter' is. I see Keyparts calls it 'external rubber flap'.
