Anti-fouling question!

We bought our first boat (second hand from a marina) in August 2020. It is an Admiral 470 (made 2019) and we discovered when having the engine serviced recently that it was never anti-fouled. We have been quoted £1000 to have it scraped, cleaned and done. How important is anti-fouling and are there any smaller independent boat yards along the Thames where it could be done more cheaply? Or is this a fair price? We are on a very sharp learning curve and would appreciate some advice

Why can't you just jet wash it off?
Then apply prima and anti foul yourself?

Does the price include a lift, block off and relaunch?

Is this the make/model of boat in question and do you keep it in the water full time? Do you have a trailer ?
£1000 seems like a lot.

Sounds like a don't want the job price. If it has been in the sea a while without antifoul it could be quite a mess.
