I'm booked on Sealift2 in Cowes overnight on Saturday for doing the antifouling. Unfortunately the forecast is not looking good with rain.

Any tips on antifouling in the rain??

I'm taking plenty of tarpaulin and duct tape plus some rags to accelerate drying of the hull, if/when I get a break.

one edge of cheap wallpaper masking taped to the hull above the boot line (with other edge hanging loose) persuades water to run off it instead of down the hull and creates a drying enclosure for you to work under... though not sure how this would help in a monsoon though :-(

You can use one of the alcohols to help dry off quickly

And to help you dry off afterwards! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks for the alcohol tip, I will buy myself a bottle of meths.

I'm really hoping to get a good break and avoid most of the faffing. Does anyone know of where I could go to get real time rain data?

Would be great to know whether I had a 3 hours break or 10 minute break from the rain.

Yes, quite possible if you run a bamd of > 1"wide masking tape above waterline, with the lower edge hanging/lifted away from hull. This forms a drip rail effect, diverting any run-off from hullsides to fall away off edge of tape. You just need to keep yourself inside this wall of drips! Been there and done it, got the wet T shirt.

Anti-foul-weather clothing?

Thanks for all the tips.

In the end the rain stopped at 4pm just as we were getting lifted out. After the pressure wash, kitchen towels went up all skin fittings and masking tape placed in a few strategic places, meant that we had the whole job done in 4 hours (not bad for a 44footer with two of us). Rain came down at 4 am that morning, so antifouling was completely dry by then.

Sealift2 service was great, they left us a small boat with outboard, so we had dinner in the lifeboat. Reckon it was at least half the cost of a haulout, much quicker and no cradle pads to work around.
