Anti fouling Airmar depth/speed/temp sensor?

My mum painted over our previous boat's impeller with ordinary antifoul once, and gummed it up solid. Maybe it would work with a careful light application.

For the current boat (coppercoated) I bought a bottle of this stuff a couple of years ago. You only use a tiny amount so although it's annoyingly expensive for such a small bottle, it will last for ages. It seems to work pretty well.

The 'Owner's Guide' from an Airmar B744, B66 and SS544 tri-transducer says:

"Surfaces exposed to salt water MUST be coated with antifouling paint. Use WATER BASED antifouling paint only. Never use ketone-based paint since ketones can attack many plastics possibly damaging the transducer".

Thanks for the link, in the past I have just put the blanking plug in the log and then painted straight over the depth and speed housings. However I thought it best to ask this time around.

After checking the Product and H&S data sheets I was none the wiser as to whether Micron Extra contains ketones or not

If you wash out brushes with anything other than water then its prboably unsafe on a transducer.
On my Airmar transducer I simply apply a smear of lanolin grease when installing it, but I remove the transducer and insert the blanking plug when leaving the boat so the transducer is not in for more than seven weeks at a time.

I use a water based one made by Marlin called ECO cheaper than the one above but still expensive for the amount you get!

I have not pulled the log since the boat was out last August and all still working well
