Hi all, My Antares 760s propeller is away for a refurbish, I've noticed play in the cutlas bearing 😬! Will I have to drop the rudder and pull the shaft? Or can the bearing be replaced with shaft insitu?

Cheers Iain IMG_20250422_145707.jpg

All depends whether there is a tiny bit of the bearing protruding from the tube so you have something to grip to pull it out. Otherwise, you may be very lucky that the shaft is not perfectly aligned with the rudder so the shaft passes to one side of the rudder. Last resort is to drop the rudder. When you fit the new one, leave 6mm protruding for next time!

Thanks for the reply good Sir! I noticed from your post years ago mentioning to order early, as it was a awkward size! I have the nanni/toyota block tho, not the volvo! However shaft diameter is also 40mm! Can you remember where you sourced your bearing Plum?
Cheers Iain

I can’t find my order but another member on here , Tomaz, said he got his from BAGUE HYDROLUBE RESINE Ø 40 X 50 MM

Regarding my recommendation to leave 6mm protruding, do ensure you still have 15mm clearance between your prop hub or rope cutter and the shaft tube to allow tor the prop to move forward under power and still leave room for water to pass to/from the cutless bearing.

Thanks again for the advice Plum! 👍🏻
