I've just installed OpenCPN and this year's Antares charts on a netbook (Lubuntu, 64-bit) I was planning to use on the boat. No matter how much I zoom in, the chart detail never appears - just a bigger and bigger red square.

On my desktop and laptop (both Xubuntu, 32-bit) it all works fine. Any bright ideas?

Go into your chart directory and remove all files that start "AC Selector" and also the "*_Chart_Selector_files" directories.

For example:
delete files like: AntaresCharts2014/Charts/BSB for PC and Mac plotting software/AC Selector West Coast, edition 1.kap
and directories like: AntaresCharts2014/Files/Mull_Chart_Selector_files

(I don't have the 2015 version yet, but expect them to be in the same format)

I don't know if you received the email from Bob, sent out on the second, and whether it's relevant to your problem. Here's part of it:

"I have done something very stupid! I have sent the BSB version in
Transverse Mercator projection instead of Mercator projection. This means
they won't work properly when used in conjunction with other charts in
OpenCPN, SeaClear, etc., although they work fine with OpenCPN when used on
their own or with other Transverse Mercator charts..

I plan to convert them to Mercator but it's not a two minute job. I will
then make them available to all who want them. It would be very helpful if
you could email back if you would like a set of the BSB charts in the
'correct' format.

This does not affect Memory-Map users or the Google Earth format"

I had it and wondered about it, but since the only charts I have for OpenCPN are Antares I don't think it applies.

That sounds like the overview map that shows where the anchorages are that you then have to load separately?

I am a complete OpenCPN newbie, but hitherto I have found that zooming in opens the charts. If there is a faster way I'd love to know it!

Thanks for that. Removing the "AC Selector ..." files seems to have done it. No "...Chart_Selector_files" folders to remove.

I'm mildly curious to know why precisely the same setup (as far as I can tell) worked on two machines but not the third.
