Has anyone managed to load Antares charts on to an Axiom MFD and use it as selectable cartography?
Hmmm…..thought so. Just playing with the new winter-install Axiom toy, it seems to suggest many different cartography alternatives are available and wondered if the Memory Map platform could be added then it would host Antares. There are so many options on the toy that is baffling at first sight, this will take all summer to learn I think. Not aware that it is possible. Raymarine have specific apps for the chart cartography used - LightHouse, Navionics etc.
I think the only raster charts option is Imray on some models.
Can’t see it happening unless / until incorporated by Navionics or C Map into their base cartography (which would also mean converting Antares back to vector format)
Raymarine defines what chart types are permitted, and works with the chart publishers to embed a software app within the LightHouse plotter software to make these available. This is generally done on a global basis (with UK being a tiny market).Hmmm…..thought so. Real shame.Raymarine defines what chart types are permitted, and works with the chart publishers to embed a software app within the LightHouse plotter software to make these available. This is generally done on a global basis (with UK being a tiny market).
Can’t see it likely they would want to add MemoryMap as a raster chart format.
Interesting, thanks, will take a look.I would look at the Open Sea Map project - if you can download some of them and get them to display on your Axiom then I'd think there's a reasonable chance the Antares charts can be converted.
Hi did you get any raster charts on your axiom, iwant to do the same and just came across a link to imray at bookharbour for all british waters for £60.Interesting, thanks, will take a look.
No, afraid not. I continue to use Memory Map on the IPad for the Admiralty UK charts and Antares. As a side benefit I also have all the UK OS maps on the same platform. Not sure I have the patience or technical skills to load on to the Axiom.Hi did you get any raster charts on your axiom, iwant to do the same and just came across a link to imray at bookharbour for all british waters for £60.

Very useful for shore excursions too. We have 50:1 and 25:1 for the whole country. Amazing when one thinks of the shelf full of paper maps that we all used to have at home. And relatively inexpensive compared to hard copy.Slight thread drift...
We too have found having OS maps available on an iPad very useful. Gives essential "in-fill" on land features which are not available on the marine charts. In fact, some of the Sailing Directions published by Clyde Cruising Club recommend the OS maps as an adjunct to marine charts to help identify shore features for local navigation.
Seeing as my blog is "Sailing Walking Running", you can tell that we use the OS maps a lot, planning walks and runs. And also Google Maps are essential for Helen to find out who owns "that massive pad on the hill" as we cruise past!Very useful for shore excursions too. We have 50:1 and 25:1 for the whole country. Thought so. I do have a galaxy with os and navionics but it's not great in the sunNo, afraid not. I continue to use Memory Map on the IPad for the Admiralty UK charts and Antares.
