Antares 760 cockpit teak removal

Hi all do anybody know if the teak boards in the cockpit of Antares 760 come off,
If so how.

Sorry I didn't explain it better it's where the rod holders fit through on top of the Gunnels.

Yes, they do use strong glue because they are not supposed to come off.

Just took them off my Beneteau sailing boat so not sure if it would be similar. They were glued solid and had to be removed with a chisel which of course destroyed them. Removing the glue & old caulk was a challenge.... Fitted Flexiteek and really pleased with the result.

No mate that is the glued on decking,

The one's i'm on about are 1" thick and are on top of the gunnels on the Antares 760 about 5 ft long and 4"- 6" wide where the rod holders fit through.

I wound imagine you will destroy them in the process. Teak is put down and meant to stay that way!

2 part cleaner brings it up like new.

I have read through the post and jrudge's response seems to be spot on... but obviously not what you want to hear.. although I would suggest sanding those... looks like at some stage someone has taken to varnish them.

On my last boat Antares 6 they were screwed down and could be taken off,
It's not the step shown in the photo it's the plank on the gunnel,
And yes somebody have done a bad job on varnishing that why I wanted to take them home to refurbish them,

If the teak on the gunnels is screwed in place you should be able to see the plugs where timber has been glued over the screws. if you can see these either dig em out and try to undo the screws or use a hacksaw between the gunnels and the timber although I would be wary of doing this incase of damage to the gel coat. If screwed from underneath you will nee to get access here to both see and then undo the screws. I am guessing you can't see the plugs so would guess the teak cappings are as others have said glued in place.

A far easier option would be to tape off the gel coat then redo them in situ

On mine they were sealed into place and were never meant to be taken off or varnished for that matter .. Just a light sanding every season and they looked good .

I sanded it in place when I first had it last year and oiled it but it don't look good now with black marks showing through,
The picture is when I first bought it somebody done a bad job at varnishing it,

This might be of some help to any of you who might be thinking the same it's from another forum I use.

I replaced the teak on my Rodman. I was screwed on from the top with plugs in the teak. The teak was also sikaflexed. One way to cut through is to use strong fine wire with improvised handles both sides and 'saw' through the mastic using the prising wedges as well.
The teak was expensive to replace ££££ but it looks great now per photo. I oiled the teak at first but have now left it to go the natural silver colour. I spray with a weak oxilic acid solution occasionally to remove the dirt and discolouration and wash down. It comes up fine. Been fitted over four years now and still good.
