Ok I give up.... how on earth do you get the VHF Ariel from the roof down to the console. (no draw wires in place).

I can get it down the pipe into the floor space behind the bulkhead to starboard of the engine. but how do you get behind the bulkhead?

Can the bulkhead be removed or is it time to create an access panel with my trusty jigsaw? /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

When you get back to PD, I'll show you the half installed VHF I have on my Antares 650 and the holes I have drilled to try and find out why they ignored the carefully installed pipe cable runs and then fibre glassed in the wires instead, including filling in access to the cable runs with copious quantities of filler.
 
Same here, I can see the empty pipe runs in the bilges, they run up the rear starboard pillar to the roof then disapear into the depths of the ceiling. All the existing cables are squeesed down the pillar outside of the pipe!!

We will have to swap notes when I get to PD.
 
Hehehe, at least it's not just Sealine and Fairline that make their cable runs impossible to get to...

Two days to pull a radar cable through from the arch to the helm on a Fairline Targa 29, 4 hours to get a cable from the lower helm to the engine bay on the F37... I now leave mousing lines in whenever I do anything - why the builders didn't is a mystery.

There is a Plethora of these Patio Door jobbies in the Dock.
760's and stuff like that all over the place.
We even had an MF 805 meet the other day!

All we need is a tin opener and a good Lookout.

Job done - sent SWMBO to Fleetwood outllets while I resorted to a fishing weight, string, long length of curtain wire, bent coat hanger, drill and the jigsaw. Not to mention turning the air blue. So thats the GPS ariel in and working. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Now just got to fit a new VHF ariel and cable !! (different route) /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
 
Glad you sorted it. My hubby had to take out the morse throttle panel on ours and reach down to feed the cables through the small hole in the bulkhead into the console area. Even with mousing lines, the holes were too narrow to pull the cables through. Bit of a phaff 'cos the seat's got to come off, but at least the air didn't go too blue /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif so he's been able to get all the new cables in: ariel, spotlight, horn. Hopefully that's it for a while...I prefer being out on the water than tied to the dock /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
 
Thanks Coastgal - I'd looked at the morse control and the seat but didn't know whether it would come off easily.
VHF ariel should be easy now as that is straight through the roof. The one I'm trying to work out is how they have run radar cable to the the surface above the heads, as I want to move it to the panel above the helm windscreen.

Hubby says he's not sure of the exact route, but he's run a cable from the cupboard in the heads (where pumps are) through the engine compartment and back into the control console. So there may be access via the heads cupboard into the combing above.

Just out of curioristy, have you managed to remove the long centre wooden roof panel in the saloon?

Thanks Stacey - the route through from the heads through the engine room makes sense.

Tried to remove the long wooden panel to get access to the roof void but it is firmly glued in place. I was using a wallpaper scraper and a screwdriver but thought there was a risk of splitting the wood. Might have another go later.
