I am considering the purchase of a Beneteau Antares 760 and would welcome any opinions or comments on this model.

The boat will be used year round for local cruising and fishing trips (including cross-channel), occasional weekend accommodation and general family & friends pottering. Particularly interested in sea-keeping and general handling experiences (I often sail single-handed). No concerns about the size of the boat in respect of accommodation (not into all this large boat trend and associated cost) but views on functionality welcome. Maximum crew would be 4, mostly 2. Based SW coast BTW.

A bomb proof boat with all the usual excellent Antares sea keeping qualities. I have a 650 and my next boat will be a 760, as I can't afford a Series 9.

Compared with its Merry Fisher sisters, the 760 is not the prettiest boat on the market, but they are safe, reliable and good value for money.

Hi. I recently bought an Antares 760. If your budget will allow, go for the Exclusive model. Lots of goodies as standard including a bow thruster, electric windlass etc.

I disagree with MC. I think the Antares is prettier than the Merry Fisher 805 although the hull is the same.

Mine has a Nannidiesel 200HP. Seems very economical if you cruise at sensible speeds (12 knots). Say 2 to 3 gallons an hour.

Very pleased overall. Found trimming fairly sensitive at speed. If you have three crew all sitting on one side at the dinette you notice it on the steering. Trim tabs would probably be advantageous.

I haven't heard anything bad about them. I think you'd be very pleased.

Good luck.

No, the MF is much prettier but more expensive. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks Major and Sunleigh.

I also found the earlier threads started by Sunleigh.

I have heard that a following sea can require a bit of extra attention but nothing unduly worrying.

In terms of looks I think it is MF = pretty but Antares = handsome :>)
