Opinions Please;
With the recent discussion about failing through hull fittings and associated, this fitting(See pic) is leaking very slightly at the top where the small black hose is connected and pinkish mark is (only a light sweat of water that you can wipe dry with a finger). I am due to have the boat lifted for antifoul in October, and was going to have the shipwright disassemble it and reseal it?, could possibly have the lift brought forward is needed to.
The lower nut against the bottom of the inside of the hull on both this fitting and the water intake on the other side are a mid brown colour, does this fitting seem like it is suffering from de zincification? The ship wright tried to tighten the hose clamps more but the leaking remained about the same, the boat is about 4 1/2 years old

European manufacturers of that era used brass, original not bonded.

Sweating is normally a sign of dezincification leaving a porous matrix.

Keep an eye on it it should last until October.

Replace skin fitting and valve in DZR with new jubilee clip and bond it, also replace all other skin fittings and valves in the same way.

I changed all my ball-valves and skin fittings on my Antares last winter as the valves were all marked as plain brass and guessed the skin fittings were too. Replaced all with DZR brass from ASAP Supplies.

Incidently, the ball-valve on that skin fitting that feeds the water to the propshaft is not required as it does not protect anything. If the hose from that ball-valve to the propshaft leaks, shutting the valve will not stop it as the water just comes in from the other end of the hose via the propshaft tube where there is no valve to shut. Guess how i know this!

Got down to the marina to investigate the skin fitting etc today;
Had a good look at the larger engine seacock, looks the coppery colour and is leaking (slight sweat) where the hose tail is screwed into the elbow,(See pic) so it will need to go as well. In the second pic the same 90 deg bend as the intake is used at the strainer and probably a hose tail screwed into the bottom as well, is it recommended to change these out as well? would these fittings screw out of the strainer OK?
I had a chat to the shipwright and he was using the composite plastic (Trudesign) fittings, what does everybody think of these?
They look a bit like pool plumbing, but with no corrosion and differing metal colours the practical aspect makes sense to me.
I would probably not include a valve at the shaft seal lubrication as the smaller diameter valves are a bit bulky and a valve is not much use?
The 3rd pic shows the seacocks in the bathroom, they still show there yellow brass colour but will probably change these out as well
