I've had some good sailing this winter which has been justifying keeping my boat afloat, but there has also been many periods of sustained strong winds from the wrong direction (west or NW) with lots of big swell which stop me from sailing and just give me lots of anxious days/nights even more so since the only other yacht that was on a mooring came ashore the other week. Just have to trust in insurance and the best insurance of all my own strops. Still Thursday looks like a nice day.
We even have one brave visiting yacht hiding in Porthcressa at the moment as well.

thanks for posting that

Yikes... and theres me worrying about Chi Harbour this time next year,... I would never have just rope either but in those conditions ... Good on you for toughing it out for winter sailing but

Can't they move you somewhere more sheltered... where the other boat is in the vid for instance! Poor boat!!

The boat in Porthcressa is fine until the next depression, and it blows SW'lly, then its more exposed than where the boat is now. Pete is in the most (generally) sheltered part of the islands.

It doent look good until the end of the week, good luck Pete, those ropes might need some attention.

As Galadriel says Porthcressa is even more exposed and uninsurable for a permanent mooring, the boat in there is just visiting and making use of the visitor moorings that are there for 'summer' visitors. Moorings further inside the harbour dry on spring tides which are usually more extreme at this time of year and if there is any groundswell as well it could have the potential for damage when drying/refloating.

Pete's just trying to scare us off! Let's remind ourselves of what the Isles of Scilly are really like.....
