What does anyone think about the various waxes and hull polishes?
I want to keep a basic clean hull which won't go porous and stain.

I've come across various waxes, marine and non marine, none too successful

Looked into A Glaze, Polyglow

Is anything containing Silicone to be avoided?

It can be a problem when you try to stick anything to it, including paint. Yes you can purchase more chemicals and special cloths to remove, by use it in the first place?

I m sure a few searches will help, but..
polish ought to contain an abrasive.. how effective it is, might then be down to how coarse it is-but then you dont always want to grind through your gel !
So, which polish probably depends on how much grime!
Wax on the other hand, is just the protectice coating. Two aspects.. how easy, how long it lasts,- tend to be mutually exclusive ! Personally, if its easy to use, I tend not to mind using it.
Must say, I found McGuires marine polish and waxes pretty good.. but not amazingly different to anything else. gets a bit subjective, I fear!

I'm not talking about polishing as in compounding or abrading in any way. I'm talking about the protective coat or wax. I'm assuming a hull that's ready for application.

Well, I have tried most but this year I used KLASSE high gloss sealant. A bit expensive but so far I'm very impressed. I sit on the Lymington river and normally I get staining and weeds above the boot top due to the buggers in ribs ( normally the safety boats from the local clubs are the worst offenders ) creating wash as they go by. but so far this year nothing. I also used it on the car and going through the car wash hasn't removed it so far either.

Klasse seems to be an automotive product, which is OK by me as auto stuff is normally a fraction of the cost of marine. Where did you get yours from?

Hi try 3m ultra performance past wax £20 if your hull is perfect (does not need polishing) it's v easy to appy and take off, offers good protection from UV and water beads up well. Shine a torch on your hull and examine the reflection fully to get a good idea as to the true condition. (condition over wax choice any day)
