After my disappointment that the Axiom does not yet have wifi or Bluetooth, today another disappointment. As well as installing this I also have installed a Raymarine 650 transceiver. Whilst I can display the AIS info on an i70s unit over the hatch, I have the Axiom at the. Hart table and am unable to display the AIS info here which I had e pected would overlay on the chart.
Any ideas anybody please , or do I need to wait for another update later in the year?
As indicated by others it would appear that this product has been released too early to the market.

Who did you buy it from? Always worth a discussion with the shop who supplied it - particularly if it appears to be not fit for the purpose bought for.
Whilst many of us buy such kit mail order, always worth buying from a supplier who can support. My experience of telephone support from the supplier of our Raymarine Radar was excellent. They had very detailed and current knowledge of what kit worked with what other kit, and what the issues might be (in my case this was pre-purchase).
Worth a try. Raymarine telephone support also good.

AIS should be visible on your Axiom providing its interfaced properly. The main stuff 'missing' is supposed to be Autopilot control, Audio , 'Advanced Sailing Tools', C-Map charts, Navionics autorouting, WIFi and Bluetooth although there may be other stuff they are not talking about.
On the other plotters the interfaces are not enabled by default. You have to turn them on.

The Axiom is the first in a new range of quad-core plotters, with an Axiom Pro (with knobs) due out shortly. Give it about 12 months and it'll probably be a good device, but right now, it's a Fishfinder.

Thanks both. I have already referred the wifi/Bluetooth problem to the retailer but he was unable or unwilling to help.
I have now raised the AIS query and asked him to refer it to Raymarine.
Wondering why I bought the Axiom now. Certainly not worth £600 or more with its limited Capabilities.

I'm quite happy with mine.

I was expecting the odd software bug in such an early release; so far I've encountered missing features but no actual errors.

For AIS I use my existing Standard Horizon VHF (NMEA0183 output) via an Actisense NMEA2000 converter, and that works fine. Don't know why your 650 isn't working; presumably it's an N2K device? Can you see any sign of it in the setup part of the Axiom interface?

Thanks Pete. The retailer has now been in touch and explained how to access and switch on the AIS settings so no gripe on that any more.
Still disappointed that my iPhone cannot access the Axiom as I do some shorthanded sailing and that would have been a great boon.
Will have to wait for next software update I suppose.
Thanks all for your help the forum is a great tool!

Yes. I'd like that too although more of a toy than a necessity for me. I miss the autopilot control, and am also a bit surprised that it doesn't seem to be able to display heading and projected-track lines, which were an important tool for me on the previous C70. I know the pilot stuff is coming, I hope the heading and track are too though I haven't seen them mentioned.

I rationalise the delay this way - if Raymarine had waited until the software was completely finished, I wouldn't have been able to install the hardware (including the new radar, and building a replacement GRP pod for the display) during this year's spring refit period. Now all that's done, I can pull down the software as and when it becomes available (I did one update via my phone while sailing down Portsmouth Harbour a couple of months ago...)

That's what I understand by 'Advanced Sailing Features' e.g Laylines. Supposedly coming.

The Axiom pro looks almost identical to an eS, with a faster CPU. Wonder if they will then stop the eS.... nothing lasts these days.

Just a quick message that I found out today how to get the projected line. Put your finger on the boat icon on the chart page and a number of useful options come up including the projected track as per older chartplotters....

Excellent - that did the trick. Thanks!

Now it's just the pilot control I'm missing, and the apps would be interesting - and we know they're working on all of that.
