Another New Ugly Boat...Function over form?

yep delivered a few 86, 78 and hull number 1 of 75 is sold

Dominator 86 - 1 came to Malta, which ia development of Nuvolari Lenard designed Mochi 25 Mega I think delivered in 6 or 8, before yard went bust in 1998

I think also for the 105 and 115 but on this I am not sure
but Dominator is an insect compared to the size of Ferretti Group, so they try to sell there yachts before actually building them

I see quite a bit of Carvers, and have worked on many of them. For the function they serve, they do quite well. They are primarily a lake craft. They are not designed for open water. They are for the people that want to have a place on the lake without buying a house. We have a lot of places on the large lakes that will have slips with large decks where they will keep garden furniture and BBQs. They putter out to a popular area, park and enjoy the activities. Or they might take a day/week trip around the lake.

I see a lot of 30-40 year old Carvers that are in great shape. No rough sea water action means that they are not stressed very much. They are suited for a certain market and do well in it. As for looks, it is not everyone's cup of tea. I like more of a barge or cat style.

SeadogUSA, one thing to remember is that some of your lakes are bigger than our seas /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif so I'd be surprised if the Carver could'nt take a bit of a sea although I agree that fundamentally they're floating condos. FWIW, I took a seatrial on a Carver once (can't remember the model, maybe 410?) in fairly choppy conditions and it was'nt bad. It was more of a problem to get it back on to it's berth due to it's windage
