Another Light Thread. The Awful Mast Mounted Deck/Steaming Light.

I do not see the point of an LED with the steaming light as the engine would be running giving a charge so it would not be draining any batteries
Nav lights are different though . But then comments on this forum do suggest that LED nav lights are not that reliable & expensive

Good quality LED replacement lamps have a significantly longer working life than incandescent lamps and are not adversely affected by vibration and shock normal on most boats. It’s not only the power consumption saving that needs consideration its very much the convenience of not having to replace a lamp particularly when it's mounted well up the mast.

Well, I have just fitted a masthead anchor light - searolfe LED-- If I have to go up the mast to change it I might put a somewhat curt reply to your thread!!!!:nonchalance:

I have a regular vanilla 4hp Yamaha two stroke outboard. When I'm running under that (as I recently did for 7 hours up the Thames in the dark), it's not charging anything. And LEDs mean I can use smaller cheaper cable. It's a no-brainer for me...
