I managed to break the glass oven door on our new cooker yesterday while racing single handed. What do you think of my chances of making a successful insurance claim? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I would guess that you could claim it. But... (a) the hastle, (b) your excess, (c) increased premiums, (d) loss of no-claims bonus, all add up to the question of is it really worth it. You may be surprised at how cheap a replacement part will cost you.

I broke an electric post (side swiped it with my transom) in a marina, and was surprised that the bill was only £50 from the marina. At that expense, no need to claim on the insurance.

Well until you posted this noone would have known you were singlehanded, or racing!

Presumably you fell off a wave and the FB pie took off and hit the inside of the door? Sounds like a valid claim to me, especially if you were traumatised by the damage to the pie.
