Yesterday we switched on the air con after a month away from the boat. It ran for an hour or so then cut out. The display is not working. We've plugged in another display and still no joy. There is 240v to the control box but no voltage at either end of the keypad connector pins. The system is about 9 years old. I'm tempted to take it out and get back some storage. However before we do that any ideas?

Was it running in heating or cooling mode ?

What was the outside temperature (air cooled) / seawater temperature (water cooled) ?

If very cold the low pressure side of the system can gradually fall away until it trips the LP switch. These sometimes have soft rubber reset buttons on the end of the pressure sensor where the wires attach, normally red. If you can find any simply press in and feel for a click as they reset.

Another possibility is a stuck reversing valve (the part that changes it from cooling to heating mode). A sharp tap with a mallet sometimes jerks these free. These look like a small cylinder with 3 pipes one side, 1 on the other, and a solenoid at one end.

What gas does it use - likely R407C or R134a, possibly R410A. If its nine years old it won't be R22 (not legally anyway) ?

It was heating and we're in Plymouth so the outside temperatures are less than tropical. I can't find any reset buttons. We had both units regassed last year. Is it possible that there is a fault with the transformer in the control box? We have 240 in but not getting any voltage out to the display, which I think should be 5v.
