Another Boring but Boaty \"Where Is This\"

Now this one should be easy and the country it is in is obvious. Should not be too much to expect for the exact name of the waterway to be named as I am sure some have been along here.

That is it TCM - 'tis Canal St Martin which runs between Port de Plaisance de Paris and Villette.

The clue was in the flag, very French.

Yes the droopy flag is a catch, but if the flag is looked at as if the stripes were horizontal (and Dutch) then it would have been upside down, wudn't it?

But very quick off the mark getting it Mr TCM, congrat's. Intriguing city, lovely country - wish it was as close to us as it is to you.

the reason i said paris was the buildings - holland is marshy and can't/doesn't have quite such hefty buildings - nor wd anywhere needem except a big city.

No very def was the French flag - I have rechecked on the original photo that I took, just to make sure. Is just the way it is drooping, as TCM says. If you look carefully you can see the staff extending down underneath it and the twist (the white blob above the flag that looks as if it could be a knob on the top of the staff is actually a man's head, standing on the other side of the canal).

Also, as I said, if was the Dutch flag then it would be flying upside down - Dutch flag has the red bar uppermost, I believe, whereas if one considered the one in the photo as not drooping, then it has blue at the top.
