Another blue ensign thread!

But what has the Blue Ensign to do with the Royal Navy ? Probably the vast majority of Royal/Merchant navy time servers fly the Red Ensign with both happiness and pride.

I'am afraid that it makes no difference to them and they do link it to our class system.

They see it as 'paid for' by the sailor rather than earned through endeavour which is what it is .

Don't forget, we are talking about a national flag and not a burgee.

If you dont like the blue ensign and cant see what I am talking about, thats fine, thats your priviledge. If you want to consider me stuck up, thats fine, you see I dont care.
I am happy knowing what it means to me and IMHO that is all that matters. I am not particularly impressed by peer pressure or snobbishness.

My basic ethos is to do unto others what I would wish them to do unto me.

None of which would lead me to condemn a section of the public purely cause they like to honour their military service.

I am genuinely trying to understand the number of posts and points that you are making on various threads concerning our national maritime flags.

I would also point out that it has taken some courage on your own part to reveal your own reasons for flying a legitimate flag which you are perfectly entitled to do.

This is always a controversial subject on these forums and in yacht clubs . I doubt very much if opinions are changed on either side but it will nevertheless always be an 'evergreen' topic.

I thank you for your honest and genuine views on the subject.

I thought, may be wrong, that the warrant to fly a blue ensign was allocated to a person not the boat. If its not you on the boat, fly the red with pride.
