Another article on anchors

Why is this bad advice? it all stretches better than chain so anything will act as a snubber with varying degrees of stretch
Someone else might be able to crunch the numbers, but using polyester instead of nylon will definitely increase the load on the anchor. First he says use nylon, which is widely agreed as a good material to use, then suggests a halyard or sheet, which almost certainly will not be nylon.

I've cheated. Again.

I wandered along to my nearest neighbourhood commercial climbing wall and scrounged a couple of the ropes they use for abseiling/climbing/falling off. That's very stretchy stuff, and also pretty damn strong ( not ISA Units!! ). Apparently, these ropes are 'recycled' into landfill quite regularly. This stuff is ideal for mooring snubbers......

I mustn't keep letting you guyz into my impecunious secrets....

And I was given a smallish fishermans because it dragged. So I ground off the flukes which were 4 sq ins and replaced them with flukes 8 sq ins. It doesn't drag now.:D
