I'm probably looking at a lawsuit here but following the previous anchor post I'd like to say that I own both a copy of a Bugel and of a Rocna.I built them very carefuly and they perform in a way I never thought possible. The Bugel copy weighs 20kgs and the "Rocna" weighs 15kgs.When I first tried the latter the boat nearly dipped the bow under. It's a Fulmar by the way.not the lightest of boats for the size.

Why is it illegal to copy some patented model for one's own use...As long as you don't market the thing?

It is still illegal to copy even for your own use but the compensation the copyright holder is only the loss of revenue which for a single copy would not be worth the troble.

This begs the question. How many other people have made there own anchor and what type.

I have seen several dimensioned drawings for most of the new types on the web and the spade even has a patton so you could check that it fitted youe bow roller.
