Looks like a 'Brake'. It seems like a reasonable design, if a little quirky, but it's a long time since I have seen one tested. At Leros, where there are many French boats, there are several of them.

No it's really not. the photo doesn't show it too well.
The really odd thing is the two strakes under the outer edges, the red bit.

Google doesn't come up with anything on that.
It's an odd shape; convex i.e. plough at the tip, concave further back, very long and those funny vertical edge strakes. Can't imagine the purpose of those unless it's just stiffening; the blade looked quite thin.

Thanks. I see that the cheap French Kobra comes out above the Manson and 3 times better than the very similar Delta and is beaten only by the expensive French Spade. Must be something about the French sand!

No, the Kobra 2 is just a very effective anchor in sand. But I don't want to stir up controversy ...

My shackle pins are countersunk, so not possible to mouse them. I use Loctite, very successfully.

Same here, but if you do have a protruding pin, as in the photo, then it might as well be moused.
